BigMachines Unplugged
No Internet? No Problem.
Because you may occasionally find yourself working in remote locations where they cannot access an Internet connection, BigMachines has developed an Unplugged Edition. Sales professionals can use BigMachines Unplugged to generate quotes while disconnected from the Internet. Once the users are back online, they can populate these quotations back to the central database for quote management, revisions, tracking, and reporting.
How Does Unplugged Work?
BigMachines combined its innovative software with solutions from Apache and Microsoft to enable offline use. On your computer, it appears similar to being connected to the central server – you are able to use the same familiar browser interface to access BigMachines, even without an internet connection. However, you are accessing and storing data on a local embedded Derby database rather than interacting with the central database server.
Before going offline, you download the current data and rules to your computer. Then when you are offline, you can still generate sales quotes using BigMachines. These quotes are stored offline, on your computer. When you reconnect to the internet, the quotes are pushed back to the central database server.
